82. No holder of a bar permit, public house or “pub” permit or tavern permit shall admit any person under eighteen years of age to any room where alcoholic beverages are sold.
In proceedings for contravention of the first paragraph, the accused shall incur no penalty if he proves that he used reasonable diligence to ascertain the age of the person before admitting him to a room where alcoholic beverages were sold and that he had reasonable ground for believing that such person was of the required age.
Any person may be required to prove that he is at least eighteen years of age when he wishes to purchase alcoholic beverages or to be admitted to a room where a bar permit, public house or “pub” permit or tavern permit is used.
Such proof may be made by means of a passport, a copy of an act of birth, a permit to drive a motor vehicle or an identity card.
Any person who falsely claims to be eighteen years of age or more to purchase alcoholic beverages or to be admitted to a room where a bar permit, public house or “pub” permit or tavern permit is used is guilty of an offence against this act.
This section does not apply to the holder of a bar permit when used in a theatre or amphitheatre or at a race-track.
