496. The Council shall be a legal person and it shall also have the special powers conferred upon it by this part respecting the school boards of the island of Montréal and the confessional school boards.

The Council shall be a corporation within the meaning of the Civil Code of Lower Canada and may exercise all the powers of such a corporation in addition to the special powers conferred upon it by this Act; it shall also have the special powers conferred upon it by this part respecting the school boards of the island of Montréal and the confessional school boards.
