46. In case of total amalgamation or annexation of school municipalities, the commissioners of such school municipalities become members of the Council of Commissioners of the new school municipality. They shall remain in office until the date of the next election of commissioners.

46. When a new municipality is erected, the electors thereof, on the second juridical Monday in the month of June following the publication of the notice of such erection in the Gazette officielle du Québec, shall elect their commissioners in the manner prescribed by this act. Otherwise, such commissioners shall be appointed by the Government on the recommendation of the Minister.
Nevertheless, in the case of a municipality contemplated in the last paragraph of section 41, or one whose erection takes effect for election purposes on a date other than the 1st of June, the electors of such municipality shall nominate candidates and elect their commissioners on the fourth and fifth juridical Mondays following the notice of such erection in the Gazette officielle du Québec or, if either of such days is a holiday, on the following juridical day. Otherwise such commissioners shall be appointed by the Government on the recommendation of the Minister.
