5. (Repealed).

5. No person shall do business as a contractor in a municipality the population whereof exceeds five thousand souls unless he has obtained from the board of examiners a license and such license is in force.
The provisions of this section shall apply even in a municipality of five thousand souls or less, if the work specified in subparagraphs a, b, c and d of paragraph 2 of section 2 be performed in public buildings or industrial establishments, as defined in paragraphs 4 and 5 of section 2 of the Pressure Vessels Act (chapter A-20).
However, contractors engaged in the work specified in sub-paragraph d of paragraph 2 of section 2 shall not be subject to the provisions of this section 5, if the municipality in which they reside, by a by-law adopted before the 20th of April, 1934, already subjects them to a license after an examination as to their technical qualification.
The licenses issued for such contractors contemplated in the preceding paragraph, shall be valid only within the territory of the said municipality.
