50. The delay for taking possession provided in the first paragraph of section 49 may be extended by a judge of the Superior Court, on motion, for serious reasons and if there is not for the expropriating party any urgency of such nature that any delay in taking possession would entail considerable prejudice. Such additional delay shall not exceed nine months.
The judge may also, on motion, authorize the expropriating party to take possession before the expiry of the delay provided by subparagraph a of section 49 if there is for the expropriating party any urgency of such nature that any delay in taking possession would entail considerable prejudice, if the expropriated party does not suffer irreparable prejudice thereby, and if the other conditions prescribed by subparagraph b of section 49 are fulfilled.
