E-2.3 - Act respecting school elections to elect certain members of the boards of directors of English-language school service centres

200. If more than 12 months remain before the polling day of the next general election and there is a vacancy in a seat reserved for an elected member on an English-language school service centre’s board of directors, the returning officer shall hold an election to fill the office.
The provisions of Chapters IV to XIII, adapted as required, apply to the election. Within 30 days from the date on which the seat becomes vacant, the returning officer must set as polling day a Sunday in the four months following that date.
The returning officer shall send a copy of the notice of election as soon as possible to the English-language school service centre’s board of directors, the chief electoral officer and the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports.
Despite section 160, the member elected to an English-language school service centre’s board of directors in a by-election shall take office on the date of the declaration of election.
