83. Every person who drives a motor vehicle on a highway without due care and attention or without consideration for other persons using the highway is guilty of an offence and liable, in addition to the costs, to a fine of $50 to $200 and to imprisonment for not more than one month. In the case of a subsequent offence within two years he is liable, in addition to the costs, to a fine of $200 to $500 and to imprisonment for not more than two months.
In any conviction under this section, the judge or magistrate shall suspend, for a period of one to three months or, in the case of a subsequent offence, three to six months, the driver’s permit of the accused.
