286. If, at the trial of an election petition, a candidate or other person be found by the judgment of the court, by himself or his agent with his actual knowledge and consent, to have aided, abetted, counselled or procured the commission of the offence of personation by any person, his election, if he has been elected, shall be declared null and void; and moreover such candidate or such other person shall be disqualified, during the three years next after the date of his being so proved or found guilty, from being elected to or sitting in the municipal council.
