152. The gong on the first or only car forming a train on an electric railway, shall be sounded at least four hundred and sixty metres from every place where the railway crosses any highway, and be kept ringing or be sounded at short intervals until the car has crossed such highway, under a fine of $8 for every neglect thereof, to be paid by the company, and the company shall further be liable for all damages sustained by any person by reason of such neglect; one-half of which fine and damages shall be collected by the company from the motorman or other person having charge of such car and neglecting to sound the gong as aforesaid.
