18. If an agreement is arrived at between the employer individually liable for the payment of the benefit, on the one part, and the beneficiary, as the case may be, on the other part, respecting the benefit to which such beneficiary may be entitled, such agreement, in order to be valid, must be in writing, signed and attested by the parties and approved by the Commission.

18. If an agreement is arrived at between the employer individually liable for the payment of the compensation, on the one part, and the workman or his dependants, as the case may be, on the other part, respecting the compensation to which such workman or his dependants may be entitled, such agreement, in order to be valid, must be in writing, signed and attested by the parties and approved by the Commission.
