Regulation respecting the Parc national de la Gaspésie

Parks Act

(chapter P-9, s. 2).

DIVISION I ESTABLISHMENT AND TERRITORIAL DESCRIPTION

1. The following territory whose plan appears in Schedule 1 and described in this section constitutes the technical description of the parc de la Gaspésie, classified as a national park:

A territory situated in the county municipalities of Gaspé-Ouest and Matane, registration divisions of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and Matane, in the townships of: Faribault, Richard, Lemieux, Courcelette, Cap-Chat, Tourelle, La Potardière, Lesseps, Deslandes, Boisbuisson, Duchesnay, covering an area of eight hundred and two square kilometres (802 km2) and whose perimeter may be described as follows:

Starting from the meeting point of the division line of the townships of Romieu and Faribault with the division line of the townships of Faribault and Courcelette, thence southeasterly, the division line of the townships of Faribault and Courcelette to the south corner of lot 8 of Range A of the township of Courcelette; thence, azimuth 76º30′ following the southeastern boundary of lot 8 of Range A until it meets a line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) to the west of the left bank of Petit Ruisseau Côté; thence following a general northwesterly then northeasterly direction, the said line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) from the left bank of Petit Ruisseau Côté until it meets the division line of the townships of Cap-Chat and Courcelette; northeasterly, the division line of the townships of Cap-Chat and Courcelette to its junction with the division line of Ranges G and H of the township of Cap-Chat; northeasterly, the division line of Ranges G and H; southeasterly, the southwestern boundary of lot 10 of Range H; thence in a general northeasterly direction, the southeastern boundary of lots 10, 9, and 8 Range H; thence in a general southeasterly, northeasterly and then southeasterly direction, a broken line whose apexes are identified by the following U.T.M. coordinates: 5,430,675 m N, 692,950 m E; 5,431,200 m N, 702,500 m E; 5,428,250 m N, 712,600 m E; thence southeasterly, a straight line to the meeting point of Aux Américains Creek and another creek, a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,426,650 m N, 714,400 m E; thence northeasterly, a straight line until it meets the northwest boundary of a lake, a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,428,350 m N, 715,450 m E; thence southeasterly, a straight line to a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,428,000 m N, 718,800 m E; thence northeasterly, a straight line until it meets an elevation point of 3,500 ft (1,066.8 m), a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,428,650 m N, 718,950 m E; thence northerly, the said elevation point of 3,500 ft (1,066.8 m), skirting to the west of De la Table Mountain, to a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,430,900 m N, 719,450 m E; thence northerly, a straight line to the point whose coordinates are: 5,432,100 m N, 719,450 m E; thence northwesterly, northeasterly and then southeasterly, a broken line whose apexes are identified by the following U.T.M. coordinates: 5,432,650 m N, 718,600 m E; 5,437,325 m N, 719,050 m E; 5,441,100 m N, 282,600 m E; 5,443,300 m N, 284,600 m E; 5,444,400 m N, 287,100 m E; 5,440,250 m N, 288,250 m E; thence southeasterly, a straight line to the meeting point of the effluent of the Mercier lakes and of the effluent of Lac à Pierre; thence southerly, the right bank of the effluent of Lac à Pierre and the eastern bank of the said lake until it meets the line surveyed in 1938, township 103, by Lorenzo Bernier, Q.L.S.; thence easterly and then southerly, the said survey line until it meets a line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running north of the left bank of the north arm of the Madeleine River; thence southeasterly, the said parallel line to its junction with the eastern extension of a creek, a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are 5,431,500 m N and 290,900 m E; thence southwesterly the said extension and the creek until it meets the western boundary of the right of way of the road bordering the McGerrigle Mountains; thence southeasterly and then southwesterly, the said boundary of the right of way to a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,419,000 m N, 287,250 m E; thence westerly, a straight line until it meets a straight line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running east of the right bank of the Sainte-Anne River, a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,418,400 m N, 712,000 m E; thence southwesterly, the said parallel line to its junction with the eastern extension of a line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running south of the right bank of Isabelle Creek; thence in a general southwesterly direction, the said line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) to the right bank of Isabelle Creek and to the south bank of the lake situated at the head of the said creek to its most westerly extremity; thence southwesterly, a straight line until it meets a straight line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running south of the southern bank of the lake whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,415,700 m N, 702,850 m E; thence, the said line parallel to the said bank of the lake and to its effluent to its junction with a line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running east of the left bank of Du Dix-Septième Mille Creek; thence in a general southwesterly direction, the said line parallel to the left bank of Du Dix-Septième Mille Creek and its extension until it meets a line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running southwest of the right bank of the Cascapédia River; thence northwesterly, the said line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) to the right bank of the Cascapédia River until it meets the division line of the townships of Faribault and Richard; northeasterly, the division line of the said townships; northwesterly, the division line of the townships of Faribault and Courcelette to the northwestern boundary of Block A of the township of Faribault; southwesterly, the northwestern boundary of Block A of the township of Faribault covering a distance of four kilometres (4 km); thence northwesterly, a straight line to an apex whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,416,625 m N, 684,700 m E; thence westerly, a straight line to a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,416,000 m N, 672,700 m E; thence northwesterly, a straight line to a point whose U.T.M. coordinates are: 5,417,750 m N, 672,150 m E; thence westerly to its junction with a line parallel to and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) running west of the left bank of the eastern arm of Ouellet ouest Creek, a point whose coordinates are: 5,417,750 m N, 670,700 m E; northwesterly, the said line parallel to its junction with the division line of the townships of Romieu and Faribault; northeasterly, the division line of the said townships back to the starting point.

To withdraw from the territory:

(1)  block B of the township of Faribault, the said block being situated on Logan Mountain;

(2)  the right of way of Highway 299 and the right of way of the highway bordering McGerrigle Mountains located within the park’s perimeter;

(3)  the part of the bed of the Sainte-Anne River and a 3-chain belt of land, sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) from each side of the said river starting from the northern boundary of the township of Courcelette until it meets the left bank and the northern extention of the Du Grand Rapide Creek, a boundary situated east of the Wilson pit.

The coordinates indicated in this technical description are expressed in meters and have been graphically tracted from the U.T.M. squaring using a scale of 1:50,000 on the maps published by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources of Canada.
