Regulation respecting the Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

Parks Act

(chapter P-9, s. 2).

DIVISION I ESTABLISHMENT AND TERRITORIAL DESCRIPTION

1. The following territory whose plan appears in Schedule 1 and described in this section constitutes the technical description of the Parc de la Jacques-Cartier, classified as a national park:

A territory situated in the townships of Tewkesbury and Cauchon, and in an unorganized territory in the county municipality of Québec and Montmorency No 1, covering an area of six hundred seventy and six tenths square kilometres (670.6 km2) and whose perimeter is described as follows:

1st perimeter: Starting from a point on the dividing line between Ranges XII and XIII of the township of Tewkesbury and at the intersection of lots 24 and 25 of Range XII of the said township; thence northeasterly along the dividing line between Ranges XII and XIII to a point sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) west of the western limit of the right-of-way of the forest road running to the west of the lake whose coordinates are: 5,227,500 m N and 317,650 m E, and of Petit Dubois Lake and Saurtney Lake; thence in a general northwesterly direction along a line parallel to, distant sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) from, and west of the western limit of the right-of-way of the said road to the intersection with the north bank of the tributary of Saurtney Lake at a point whose coordinates are: 5,232,870 m N and 314,100 m E; thence northerly and westerly along a broken line whose apexes are identified by the following coordinates: 5,238,350 m N and 313,760 m E, a point on the 2,250 ft (685.8 m) elevation line, 5,238,330 m N and 312,090 m E, a point on the west bank of the tributary of McLish Lake and sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) south of the southern limit of the right-of-way of the road running south of McLish Lake, north of Rock Lake and west of Bréboeuf Lake; thence in a general northwesterly direction along a line parallel to, distant sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) from, and west of the western limit of the right-of-way of the said road, to a point whose coordinates are: 5,243,220 m N and 310,550 m E; thence northerly along a straight line to the southeast right-of-way of the power line, at a point whose coordinates are: 5,246,900 m N and 310,730 m E; thence northeasterly along the southeast right-of-way of the power line to the intersection with the northern right-of-way of a forest road between Champlain Lake and Brugnon Lake, at a point whose coordinates are: 5,259,200 m N and 315,250 m E, skirting Cook Lake in a line parallel to, distant sixty and thirty-five hundredths metres (60.35 m) from and west of the western shore of the said lake; thence northeasterly in a straight line to a point six hundred metres (600 m) north of the north bank of the Jacques-Cartier River and two hundred metres (200 m) east of the left bank of the Launière River; thence in a general southerly direction along a line parallel to, distant two hundred metres (200 m) from and east of the left bank of the Launière River to a point two hundred metres (200 m) north of the north bank of the Jacques-Cartier River; thence in a general easterly direction along a line parallel to, distant two hundred metres (200 m) from, and north of the north bank of the Jacques-Cartier River to a point whose coordinates are: 5,259,220 m N and 324,350 m E that is, to the intersection with the southern limit of the right-of-way of a former forest road; thence in a general southeasterly direction along the southern limit of the said forest road to a point whose coordinates are: 5,258,820 m N and 325,950 m E; thence southerly along a straight line to a point on the east bank of the effluent of Lapointe Lake and thirty and forty-eight hundredths metres (30.48 m) south of the median line of the forest road that runs north of Lanoraye Lake and south of Chartier Lake; thence in a general northeasterly direction along a line parallel to, distant thirty and forty-eight hundredths metres (30.48 m) from, and south of the median line of the said road to intersection with the western right-of-way of Highway 175; thence in a general southeasterly direction along the western limit of the right-of-way of Highway 175 to the intersection with the western limit of the right-of-way of the power line; thence in a general southerly direction along the western limit of the right-of-way of the power line running west of Petit Épaule Lake to the intersection with the western limit of the right-of-way of Highway 175; thence in a general southwesterly direction along the western limit of the right-of-way of the said highway to the intersection with a point one hundred twenty metres (120 m) south of the southern limit of the right-of-way of the forest road following the Épaule River, at a point whose coordinates are: 5,233,900 m N and 331,280 m E; thence southwesterly along a straight line to the dividing line between Ranges IX and X of the township of Tewkesbury and the dividing line between lots 36 and 37 of Range X in the said township; thence southwesterly along the dividing line between Ranges IX and X to the dividing line between lots 34 and 35 of Range IX; thence southeasterly along the said dividing line between lots 34 and 35 of Range IX to the dividing line between Ranges VIII and IX; thence southwesterly along the said dividing line between Ranges VIII and IX to the dividing line between lots 28 and 29 of Range VIII; thence southeasterly along the said dividing line between lots 28 and 29 of Range VIII for a distance of two hundred forty and three hundredths metres (240.03 m); thence in a general southwesterly direction along the limit of the Domaine de la Cache property, which is a watershed line between Cachée River and Épaule River according to the following bearings and distances:

this point being on the dividing line between lots 26 and 27 of Range VIII of the township of Tewkesbury; thence southeasterly along the said dividing line to the northern limit of the right-of-way of the power line; thence in a general southwesterly direction along the said right-of-way limit to the end of Range VII; thence southwesterly along the said range line to the dividing line between lots 21 and 22 of Range VIII; thence northwesterly along the said dividing line between lots 21 and 22 of Ranges VIII and IX to the dividing line between Ranges IX and X; thence northeasterly along the dividing line between Ranges IX and X to the dividing line between lots 24 and 25 of Range X; thence northwesterly along the said dividing line between lots 24 and 25 of Ranges X, XI and XIII back to the starting point. Area: 666.7 km2.

2nd perimeter: Starting from a point on the western limit of the right-of-way of Highway 175 and from the western limit of the right-of-way of the power line, a point whose coordinates are: 5,259,300 m N and 331,400 m E; thence in a general northwesterly direction along the western limit of the right-of-way of the power line to a point whose coordinates are: 5,261,200 m N and 331,000 m E; thence southwesterly and southerly along a broken line whose apexes are identified by the following coordinates: 5,260,720 m N and 330,260 m E, 5,258,900 m N and 330,200 m E a point two hundred fifty metres (250 m) north of the northern limit of the right-of-way of the road running to the north of Lanoraye Lake and south of Chartier Lake; thence in a general southwesterly direction along a line parallel to, distant two hundred fifty metres (250 m) from, and north of the northern right-of-way of the said road to a point whose coordinates are: 5,258,100 m N and 328,950 m E; thence northwesterly, westerly and southwesterly along a broken line whose apexes are identified by the following coordinates: 5,258,680 m N and 328,500 m E, 5,258,620 m N and 327,800 m E, 5,257,850 m N and 326,850 m E, a point thirty and forty-eight hundredths metres (30.48 m) north of the median line of the road running to the north of Lanoraye Lake and south of Chartier Lake; thence in a general northeasterly direction along a line parallel to, distant thirty and forty-eight hundredths metres (30.48 m) from, and north of the median line of the said road to the western limit of the right-of-way of Highway 175; thence in a general northerly direction along the western limit of the right-of-way of Highway 175 back to the starting point. Area: 3.9 km2.

The coordinates in this technical description are expressed in metres and have been graphically traced from the U.T.M. squaring using the maps on the scale of 1:50,000 published by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources of Canada.
