Nomination Regulation

DIVISION I GENERAL

1. The Interpretation Act (chapter I-16) applies to this Regulation.

DIVISION II NOMINATION PAPERS

2. A person offering to stand as candidate shall file nomination papers in accordance with Form 42 attached hereto.

3. A person offering to stand as candidate may attach to his nomination papers his Canadian citizenship certificate, Canadian passport, driver’s licence or probationary licence issued in plastic form by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, health insurance card issued by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec or a copy of the order changing his name, instead of his birth certificate.

4. After examining the identification, the returning officer may give it back to the person offering to stand as candidate on condition he provides the returning officer with a true copy.

5. A person offering to stand as candidate under his ordinary given name and surname, not being those appearing on his birth certificate, must attach to his nomination papers an affidavit to the effect that the ordinary names claimed are those under which he is commonly known in political, professional and social life.

6. The photograph attached to the nomination paper must show a full head view from the front or slightly from the side of the candidate, from the shoulders up with the face fully visible, against a plain light background and using photographic paper. The photograph must be passport size 50 mm wide x 70 mm high (2 inches wide × 2 3/4 inches high).
